PRP

Platelet-rich plasma or PRP is an advanced injectable treatment, designed to transform your skin. It effectively reduces aging signs, sun damage, and other skin concerns. PRP is a completely natural procedure because your own blood platelets and plasma are used in the process. That’s why PRP is often called Vampire facial.

When injected into your targeted areas, PRP triggers collagen production, firms your skin, and reduces fine lines and wrinkles. It also significantly enhances your skin texture and tone.

Since it is a natural procedure, that doesn’t include any foreign ingredients, there is little to no risk of experiencing allergic reaction or infection. Plus, PRP treatment is quick and you can easily fit it into your busy schedule.

What is platelet-rich plasma?

PRP rejuvenating injectable treatment triggers your body’s own healing processes. As your skin rejuvenates it becomes smooth, tight, and radiant.

What makes PRP treatment so beneficial for your skin are platelets and plasma from your blood. Platelets are a type of blood cell, while plasma holds the platelets together. Platelets are the ones that trigger your skin’s healing. When injected into your skin, PRP stimulates collagen production and makes your skin refreshed and rejuvenated.

When used in facial rejuvenation, platelets are separated from your blood using centrifugation. Only the concentrated plasma with platelets is then injected into your skin.

Who is a good candidate for prp treatment?

One of the best things about the PRP procedure is that almost anyone can benefit from it. During the treatment your own platelets and plasma are used to rejuvenate and regenerate your skin so there is no allergic reaction or infection. Also, your body won’t reject it because it is an ingredient already present in it.

You may be a good candidate for a PRP procedure if you are not satisfied with your skin but you want to avoid surgical procedures. PRP treatment can dramatically improve your skin in a non-surgical manner.

On the other hand, if you have certain blood illnesses and take blood-thinning medications, you may not be a good candidate for the PRP procedure.

What are the benefits of prp treatment?

PRP treatment offers you numerous benefits.

It is a completely natural procedure that triggers collagen production and your skin’s healing processes. It deeply regenerates your skin’s tissue and makes your skin smoother, firmer, and more hydrated.

PRP is a quick treatment that you can easily fit into your lunch break.

PRP injectable procedure really represents the future of non-surgical aesthetic treatments.

WHAT DOES THE PRP TREATMENT LOOK LIKE? +

Before undergoing PRP treatment, you are first consulted with Dr. Dragana Spica. She examines your skin concerns and asks you about your medical history. You discuss the aesthetic goals you wish to achieve with PRP treatment. Finally, Dr. Dragana creates a customized treatment plan that focuses on your specific concerns.

On the day of your PRP treatment, Dr. Dragana draws a little blood from your vein and places it in a centrifuging machine. The platelets and plasma get separated from the rest of your blood sample.

Dr. Dragana carefully cleans your targeted areas and applies a local anesthetic to your skin. The anesthetic makes the treatment more comfortable especially if you have very sensitive skin.

Dr. Dragana starts your treatment by injecting PRP in the specific points on your face, neck, or decolletage. PRP is absorbed by your skin and spread into the deeper layers. It immediately triggers your skin’s healing processes and production of collagen.

WHAT SIDE EFFECTS ARE CONNECTED TO PRP TREATMENT? +

Since PRP is only a minimally invasive treatment, it requires minimal to no downtime. Generally, you can immediately return to your busy schedule.

Some of the side effects that you might experience include:

  • Tenderness to touch
  • Redness
  • Swelling
  • Bruising

These side effects should resolve after a day or two. Experiencing swelling is normal and part of your skin’s healing process. If bruising is uncomfortable, you can apply ice packs to ease the discomfort.

After the treatment, avoid touching the treated areas for a couple of hours. Also, avoid applying makeup or other skincare products. If you are going outside, use a high SPF for a week post-procedure.

WHAT ARE THE EXPECTED RESULTS OF PRP TREATMENT? +

You will notice the first results of the PRP treatment after a couple of days. Your skin will become firmer, healthier and more radiant. The first results are seen after just one treatment session and they continue to improve in the following weeks. You will see the best results after new collagen has been produced. Once the final results are there, they can last for more than 18 months.

HOW MANY PRP TREATMENT SESSIONS ARE NECESSARY? +

For the best and long-lasting results, you generally need 3 to 4 PRP treatment sessions. You can have touch-up treatments a couple of times a year to keep the results of this revolutionary anti-aging procedure.

If you have more severe skin concerns like acne or surgical scars, you may need to undergo 4 to 6 treatment sessions for the best results.

If the skin condition is more severe and patients are dealing with acne and surgery scars or other skin damage it is recommended initially to have 4 to 6 treatments with a two-week pause between each session.

The results of PRP are long-lasting and can be visible for 18 or more months.
